2021 turned out to be a turbulent year for everyone, but here at FMA we are pleased to look back and see far more highs than lows. As an agency that specialises in helping gyms get new clients, for ALL gyms nationally to be forced to close, this could have spelled disaster. But our mission has always been to help our clients reach the people who need them, and during the pandemic more people than ever before were finding solace in exercise. We want to see all of our clients make a success of their business, so it was obvious what we needed to do – we pivoted to adapt to the new climate by giving our clients the ability to coach their clients virtually, and have a positive impact on the industry at a time when wellbeing became even more important.
From January to March we helped our clients transition to training their members online, showing them how to market and sell this new offering. It soon became obvious that we were having a positive effect on the industry, with our client base growing from 150 to 178 members within these 3 months. We transitioned our Mastermind event online so we could continue to provide our clients with much needed business planning sessions and mindset training. We took on 2 new members of staff to help us reach and service more clients.
By the end of April we had over 200 clients on board and it seemed that things were slowly going back to normal, with gyms reopening across the UK. However, we were suddenly hit with the IOS 14 update which threw the Facebook advertising world into turmoil. The update made it more difficult to monitor how our own and our clients’ campaigns were performing, which is at the core of what we do here at FMA. But with a few new hands on deck and after a few sleepless nights, Ben and the team implemented a few changes to our systems to make sure the tracking of our campaigns weren’t affected negatively.
By May it was amazing to see many of our clients re-opening with record numbers and opening brand new facilities. Client and staff numbers kept growing and in June we were over the moon to receive 2 awards; Best Lead Generation Campaign award from the Performance Marketing Awards, and Most Effective Digital Marketing Strategy at The Digital Experience Awards. After this the positives kept coming…
The sales team attended the IFBA Live event in July, meeting new and interesting people and brands, and coming back with a host of useful contacts and ideas. Our in-office live studio was completed in August, and the highlight of our year came when we hosted our biggest ever Mastermind event at Anfield stadium, Liverpool.
After seeing how receptive our clients were to the sales coaching covered in Liverpool, we decided to host regular Sales Bootcamps at our office in Haywards Heath. The first of these came in October and we had such positive feedback from attendees, we have been hosting them fortnightly ever since. We took the Sales Bootcamp to Dublin in November to share it with our Irish clients, and whilst there, Ben took a roadtrip to tour some of their top class gyms.
We ended the year on a high, reaching another milestone by going beyond 300 clients. We hope 2022 is going to be a smoother ride but whatever happens we’re excited to keep doing what we do best.
